Mr. Eddie Scales embodies the spirit of the Safety Dawgs program through his unwavering dedication to the well-being of MSU’s military-connected community. His commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels safe—both physically and emotionally—is evident in the way he manages the GV Sonny Montgomery Center for America’s Veterans. As a combat veteran, Eddie brings a unique perspective to his work and consistently goes above and beyond his normal responsibilities to ensure the building is operated safely and responsibly.

Most recently, Eddie led a comprehensive safety inspection during a graded facility review, guiding the team to an exceptional 100% score. His proactive efforts not only prevented potential issues but also elevated the Center’s overall safety posture, resulting in a Maroon Rating and recognition through an Excellence in Safety Coin ceremony. Eddie’s leadership and initiative clearly demonstrate the positive, preventive, and above-and-beyond contributions that define a true Safety Dawg.
