Fire Codes & Standards

Mississippi State University is governed by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. The mission of the State Fire Marshal’s Office is to foster, promote and develop ways and means of protecting life and property from fire and related perils through direct action and coordination with Mississippi fire and law enforcement services. The State Fire Marshal’s office has adopted the International Code Council.

International Code Council

The International Code Council is the leading global source of model codes and standards and building safety solutions that include product evaluation, accreditation, technology, training, and certification.  The Code Council’s codes, standards, and solution are used to ensure safe, affordable, and sustainable communities and buildings worldwide.  ICC’s mission is to provide codes, tools, and resources that members rely on, building safety professionals turn to, and manufacturers and the public trust.

National Fire Protection Association

NFPA delivers information and knowledge through more than 300 consensus codes and standards, research, training, education, outreach, and advocacy; and by partnering with others who share an interest in furthering our mission.  NFPA’s mission is to help save lives and reduce loss with information, knowledge, and passion.
